WCCF Tech Talks with Stardock’s Brad Wardell about the Future of Galactic Civilizations III
9/22/2015 12:34:00 PM
The folks at WCCF Tech chatted with Stardock CEO Brad Wardell about Galactic Civilizations III and what the future might hold for it.
“With the inclusion of the somewhat forgettable yet adorable Snathi, are there plans to make any of the other minor factions playable? The Exis Empire might make for a hilarious storyline by themselves.
Ha. Yea, one of the investments we made with the GalCiv III engine is the campaign system. It was expensive to do for us but it allows us to introduce players to lots of new alien civilizations with their own engaging stories.

9/17/2015 1:00:00 PM
Hallo! Bonjour! Здравствуйте! Stardock is excited to announce that our latest update to Galactic Civilizations III includes language support for German, French, and Russian!
Here's a little note from our CEO, Brad Wardell, about the new language support: "With over a hundred thousand words, translating Galactic Civilizations III is like translating a book. It was important to us that every civilization in the game have their own technology tree and its own diplomatic dialog. But doing so made it a real challenge to translate it."
In addition to our new multi-language support, the 1.31 update contains updates to some of our key features, see the full changelog here:
We appreciate our community feedback and hope that you enjoy the new features that 1.31 has to offer! Auf Wiedersehen! Au revoir! До свидания!

Released today, Galactic Civilizations III 1.31 adds on to the recently released 1.3 update which added a host of new user interface features requested by fans of the series with support for German, French and Russian languages.
"With over a hundred thousand words, translating Galactic Civilizations III is like translating a book," said Brad Wardell, President & CEO of Stardock. "It was important to us that every civilization in the game have their own technology tree and its own diplomatic dialog. But doing so made it a real challenge to translate it."
The new version also continues to add new features requested from the community including user interface improvements, better AI and balance changes.
"Building this game via a custom made 64-bt strategy engine has allowed us to give players the ability to create vast, interstellar empires," said Wardell. "But it also keeps us on our toes for making sure that the computer players play intelligently while at the same time making sure multiplayer games don't get bogged down in micromanagement. The GalCiv fan community has been tremendously helpful in giving actionable feedback."
